Mario Lavista's love for painting has taken him to compose three works based on some of his favorite pictures. In them he did not want to describe such pictures musically, but to imagine what they are listening or touching the characters who inhabit the painting. He believes that there are quiet paintings, like those of Angelical Fray, and others in which sounds and noises are listened to, sometimes deafening as in the battles of Paolo Uccello. The Pífano is based on the picture “Le fifre” of Edouard Manet. In this painting there is a young person in military uniform touching a fife of wood. Lavista likes to think that the music he wrote is the one that this young musician is playing.
